Description
The Kunst am Arrenberg group is a more or less loose association of artists from various artistic fields such as visual arts, photography, and kinetic art. It is affiliated with the Aufbruch am Arrenberg e.V. association and currently consists of about a dozen creative individuals who either work and/or live in Arrenberg.
The first joint exhibition took place in 2013, when Procar Automobile GmbH on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße offered to open its showroom to Arrenberg artists as part of the Arrenberg neighborhood festival. Three extensive exhibitions were held there in succession, each festively opened on the evening before the upcoming neighborhood festival.
Since then, approximately ten joint exhibitions have been organized in various suitable venues, such as the film room of the former Impuls Action Center on Viehhofstraße (Dürdoth Car Rental) and the Sparkasse branch on Islandufer. All of the group’s upcoming activities are discussed together at regular meetings.
After an extensive search, the group found its own space in the neighborhood in 2019: a large storefront at the corner of Senefelderstr. and Simonsstr. 27, which ingeniously meets the group’s expectations. The Eckart Art Space is open to a wide variety of artistic activities in the Arrenberg neighborhood.
In 2020, all members of the group will initially exhibit at Eckart one after another; a group exhibition takes place annually during WOGA—Wuppertal Open Galleries and Studios.
